Fat transfer in body Liposculpting including the lastest tech

As part of our ongoing Signature LipoSculpting program we do a lot of fat transfer/grafting to several areas of the body.  Simply put, fat is harvested gently from one area such as the abdomen or legs, processed to remove excess fluid and debris then transfered back to an area of the face or body needing enhancement or correction.  We commonly Lipo the flanks and lower back to give a beautiful curve to the back but find that the buttocks is flat and needs to be rounded out.  Strategically placed we can give the buttocks that “pop” that has been missing for so long.  Other areas can be done such as breast enhancement using your own fat and also the hands to make them look younger.  Transfer to the face is our number one area.  If you are tired of looking tired due to the baggy skin sagging under the eyes or those deep defects around the mouth then fat placement there and other areas on the face can correct it with ease.  We can even fill in hollow temples and effect a slight brow lift by placing fat in those areas.  We have used fat to correct surgical defects that sometimes occur after mastectomy reconstruction and even filled in areas on the hip and buttocks caused by frequent medication injections.

New to Genesis over the last 5 months is the introduction of O2 enhancement to the grafted area.  This has resulted in a tremendous increase in fat retention survival and further enhancement of the grafted site.  Simply done, after the area is numbed, CO2 is passed into the graft site thru a small injection needle.  Once under the skin, CO2 is then quickly replaced by Oxygen and the CO2 is removed thru the blood stream.  This results in a marked increase in the oxygenation of the grafted fat giving us tremendous survival of the fat. I am excited at how this CO2 technology is improving our fat grafting/transfer program.  Also new this year is the addition of low pressure infusion for grafting larger areas.  Fat is delicate and this system prevents high pressure injection of the fat that may rupture the fat cells and decrease survival.

I am so excited to let you know about our newest enhancements.  It is always my goal to offer the latest technology that will give you a better result and the look you desire.  In future blog posts you will see more on the CO2 therapy for other conditions.  This is technology that has been worldwide for over a decade and has recently been approved by the FDA in the U.S.  Stay tuned.  Stay healthy.

Fat Transfer or Juvederm…What do I do….part 2

With our last post I talked about Juvederm.  Today we talk about FAT TRANSFER.

Fat transfer is just what it says.  We take fat from another area of the body, usually the abdomen or legs, and place it in the face or other body areas.  The advantage of this method is that we can get a whole lot more material to transfer and it is your natural tissue.  With Juvederm products we only have 1 cc of filler per vial and may have to use multiple vials to get the look you want.  Also the Juvederm products only stick around about 1-2 years depending on which one used.  Contrast that to fat in which we can use several cc’s of fat and it sticks around for 3-10 years.  One thing we do is to mix your fat with your platelets prior to placing in your face or hands.  Your own platelets (from your blood) will stimulate the millions of stem cells that are associated with the fat which will then help grow new blood supply and structural tissue. The platelets will also help your skin regain a more glowing appearance.  Where we may only use 1cc of Juvederm under the eye, we ususally place 1-3 cc’s of fat/platelets.  This gives you a very nice cheek lift, taking you back to a more youthful, fuller apperence.  Also, whereas we may do only a cc of Juvederm around the mouth and nasal line, we may use 2-4 cc’s of fat/platelets to restore the natural fullness around the mouth.  Fat is ideal for the back of the hands also as it gives a very natural fill between the tendons and helps hide those unsightly veins.  Again the platelets can help restore the skin on the hand to a more youthful look.

Now if you have very minimal volume loss in the face, Juvederm products as discussed in part 1 may be ideal as we will not need a lot of volume.  However, for multiple “caved in” or sagging areas or if other body areas such as the breasts, buttocks, or hands need enhancement then fat is the ideal solution.

Give us a call and come in where we can advise you of the better way to make you feel and look your best.

Thought:  The pain you feel today is the strength you feel tomorrow.  For every challenge encountered there is opportunity for growth.

Buttocks fat transfer/ Brazillian Butt Lift

I had some questions today about our fat transfer to the buttocks and how ours differs from that of other cosmetic surgeons.  A patient came by inquiring about how we do ours and stated she had been told by other surgeons she could not work or sit for about 3 weeks and she must sleep on her stomach.  Our instructions differ and this is why.  My buttocks fat transfer concentrates on placing most of the fat in the upper 2/3 of the buttocks away from where you sit.  Pay attention as to what part of your derrier bears the weight and you will find it is the top of the leg and only the lower portion of the buttocks.  I have been able to acheive an enhanced rounded look without having to place fat on the “sitting” portion of your rear end.  Also by using the Brazilian butt lift technique we very carefully place fat in the Gluteal muscle under your butt to get a nice rounded lift without having to fill in that lower 1/3 where the sitting occurs.  Now I do recommend sleeping on your stomach for 2-3 weeks but if no fat is placed on the side of the butt you can sleep on your side as long as a pillow is to your back to prevent rolling over.  I had one patient to sleep in a recliner but she had excessive padding around her buttocks.  Her results were still stunning.    Another way we differ from other centers is our usage of  PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP).  My nurse will draw blood before we start the transfer procedure and then separate the platelets from the other blood cells.   The platelets are then concentrated and mixed with the fat before the fat is injected.  These activated platelets then stimulate STEM CELLS which grow new blood supply and structural elements to help the fat survive and your new shape to be accomplished.

It’s time to get rid of that “pancake butt” from weight loss or aging and get your new shape.  It can also be time to enhance what you already got.

Your new look can be acheived.  The art, the technology, and the expertise is available at Genesis.

Let 2016 be YOUR year for the new you.  Keep the promises you made to yourself.

Thanks
